Today we had the presentation of the annual Ethna Nolan awards. These awards celebrate Literacy in St Mary’s Aughlisnafin. The awards were donated by Ethna Nolan’s daughters - Mrs. Maura Scullion and Mrs. Sheila McClean.
Ethna Nolan, who had been a former teacher at the school, had a particular interest in fostering good creative writing. The awards were set up by members of Mrs. Nolan’s family as a way of honouring her memory and encouraging creative writing within the school.
